What You Know Is Not What You Think You Know
When we assume things, we all know what it makes out of "u" and "me", right? Oh wait, maybe I'm assuming you know... ok it makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me" - there, assumption averted. (See accompanying visual aid.)
So why am I assuming you might want to read about assumptions? Actually... I'm not assuming that, I'm hoping that you'll read this and maybe take a chance on actually asking your customers about things.... and not assuming you know their answers.
Remember It's What *They* See
I'm a fan of Mike Rowe. If you don't know who he is from the name, you may recognize him from the Ford commercials he does. Beyond that advertising campaign, Mike Rowe is also the host and/or narrator of many television shows, including a couple of my favorites, Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch (check these out if you want to see what quality reality television series can be like).
But it's the Ford commercials I want to talk about - actually a specific recent one - and actually it's one line from that one 30 second commercial I want to talk about - because it speaks volumes.

We Are Feeling Lucky - Why and How
We are TOTALLY infused about Greenville's bid to get Google to bring their Google Fiber for Communities project to our home base. If you don't know what it's all about, go check out www.WeAreFeelingLucky.com - go ahead, we'll be here when you get back.....
OK, back with us? Good. So, why are we at Infusion "feeling lucky"? Well, for one thing, our business is dependent on the availability of reliable, high-speed Internet connections. That's what allows us to do what we do. Anything that increases both the speed and the availability of the Internet in our home town is a good thing for us. Google has said that their fiber optic network will be open for other network providers to use - which means increased competition - and as you know, we believe in competition.
